A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory analgesic antipyretic for use in horses, cattle andMeloxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the oxicam class which acts by inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis, thereby exerting anti-inflammatory, antiendotoxic, anti-exudative, analgesic and antipyretic properties. It has preferential COX-2 inhibitory properties.
Horses - For single dose rapid initiation of therapy for musculoskeletal disorders and relief of pain associated with colic.
Side effects and overdosing - Subcutaneous as well as intravenous administration is well tolerated in cattle; only a slight transient swelling at the injection site following subcutaneous administration has been reported in approximately 10% of animals treated in clinical studies. In the case of overdosing symptomatic treatment should be initiated.
CONTRAINDICATIONS AND PRECAUTIONS
This product is contraindicated for use in animals suffering from haemorrhagic gastrointestinal disorders, impaired hepatic, cardiac or renal function and haemorrhagic disorders, or where there is evidence of individual hypersensitivity to the product.
The product should not be used concurrently with glucocorticoids, other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or anti-coagulant agents. Use with caution in conjunction with other highly protein bound drugs..
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
Intravenous administration is well tolerated in horses and cattle.
Horses: Use with caution in pregnant or lactating mares as the safety of this product in these classes of horse has not been established. Cattle: Repeat treatments or higher doses into the muscle could result in residues above the MRLs unless the label withholding period is extended. Pigs: Repeat doses (more than TWICE) or higher doses could result in residues above the MRLs unless the label withholding period is extended. The prescribing veterinarian would need to advise on an extended withholding period. Safe use in pregnant sows has not been fully evaluated but preliminary studies suggest that it has no harmful effects in the second and third trimester of pregnancy. Can be used in lactating sows.
Single use only in cattle. Pigs may receive a second treatment 24 hours after the first.
Horses: 3.0 mL/100kg (0.6 mg/kg).
Cattle: 2.5 mL/100kg (0.5 mg/kg).
Pigs: 2.0 mL/100kg (0.4 mg/kg)..
MEAT WITHHOLDING PERIOD
Horses: DO NOT USE in horses intended for human consumption.
Meat: DO NOT USE less than 15 days for cattle and 6 days for pigs before slaughter for human consumption.
Milk: Milk collected from cows within 6 days (12 milkings) of treatment. MUST NOT BE USED for human consumption, processing or fed to bobby calves.
EXPORT SLAUGHTER INTERVAL
Pigs: DO NOT slaughter for export less than 6 days after treatment.

RACING/EVENT WITHHOLDING PERIOD
If used in performance animals, the regulations of the relevant authorities regarding medication should be observed.

Dispose of empty container by wrapping with paper and putting in garbage. Discarded needles/ sharps should immediately be placed in a designated and appropriately labelled “sharps” container.
Store below 25°C (Air conditioning). Store upright, do not freeze, protect from light. Discard unused portion within 28 days of first broaching bottle..
